On the register since 1987.
Clifton Properties (Yorkshire) Limited was incorporated on 17 November 1987 and has been filing continuously ever since.
What the company is
A private limited company that owns property in West Yorkshire and lets it. Its registered activities are the buying and selling of its own real estate, and the letting and operating of real estate it owns or leases. It is not an agency, a fund, or a development company.
Why it has stayed small
Because the advantages of being small are the whole proposition. A landlord with fifteen buildings can know all fifteen. A landlord with fifteen hundred cannot, and has to manage by process instead — which is why tenants of large portfolios so often find themselves explaining their own building to the person responsible for it.
Growth for its own sake would cost us the thing that makes the business work.
How we finance it
Cautiously. Borrowing that only works while values climb is how landlords end up selling in the year they should be buying, and a forced seller never gets the price.
Where we operate
West Yorkshire and the immediate surrounding area. Our registered office is in Batley. We look at property within sensible travelling distance of it, because a landlord who cannot get to a building within the hour is not really managing it.
